Thermal Desorption Unit (Drill Cuttings, 2 TPH)

Location: Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Vulcan® Drying Systems commissioned a plant for a client in Nigeria to remediate drill cuttings using a Hot Oil Heated Screw Thermal Desorption Unit with Vapor Recovery. This effort is aimed to reduce landfilling of drill cuttings and recycle diesel-based drilling fluids. The primary treatment unit was a reconditioned Metso Bethlehem porcupine rotary screw.  Commissioning data demonstrated minimal residual hydrocarbons in the treated solids and was approved and permitted by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

The system was designed to process 2.0 TPH of drill cuttings from Nigeria. The system uses diesel and waste fuel oil fired burners.
