Rotary dryers are known as the workhorse of industrial dryers. They are able to process a wide variety of materials and can lend a hand in nearly any industry requiring industrial drying solutions. Some of the most common industries and materials in which rotary dryers are employed include:

  • Aggregates
  • Agricultural By-Products
  • Animal Feeds
  • Biomass
  • Biosolids
  • Fertilizers
  • Fly Ash
  • Gypsum
  • Inorganic Chemicals
  • Limestone
  • Manure
  • Metal Chips & Shavings
  • Mining Ores & Concentrates
  • Municipal Waste & Sludge
  • Organic Chemicals
  • Paper Sludge
  • Plastic Pellets & Grains
  • Potash
  • Reclaimed Dust
  • Rubber Pellets
  • Salts & Sugars
  • Sand

Dewatered biosolids are introduced through a wet material feed hopper 1 (not shown) and mixed with dry biosolids in batch mixers 2. A proper ratio of thoroughly mixed materials entering the dryer 3 ensures the consistency required to efficiently reduce moisture and to optimize the formation of Class “A” PFRP dry prill. Mixed material is conveyed through the dryer where the heat removes excess moisture and reduces pathogens. Proprietary biosolids dryer technology ensures a uniform and consistent ≥90% dry solids end product. Processed material leaves the dryer through a knock out box 4 and is carried to a screen shaker 5 where it is processed to a uniform size. Any material that is too small is sent back to the dry material hopper 6. Material that is too large is processed through a crusher 7 and used as starter feed for new feed stock. The size accepted biosolid fertilizer prills are conveyed through a cooling screw 8 and emptied in a client supplied storage container. Particulate and dust from the vapor stream is collected and removed by twin cyclones 9. The captured particulates from the twin cyclones are transferred via a drag conveyor 10 back to the dry material feed hopper 6. The vapor stream from the twin cyclones goes through a venturi scrubber 11 and inertial separator 12 to remove any residual particulate from the vent stream.

Benefits of the Vulcan® Drying Systems Biosolids Drying System

This needs to be updated.

Drying is an essential part of processing hemp for CBD oil extraction, but the process can take a significant amount of time and effort. Hemp biomass often has a high moisture content, even up to 85%, which has to be reduced to an acceptable level in order to extract quality CBD oil. With the proper equipment, you can dry hemp correctly and efficiently, resulting in a product ready for CBD oil extraction or other industrial or medical purposes.

The Vulcan® Drying Systems Hemp Drying System is custom-designed and manufactured to improve a customer's individual drying needs. This system consists of a correctly sized drum and burner mounted in a concurrent configuration. Vulcan® Drying Systems Hemp Drying Systems are designed specifically to dry up to 10 tons per hour of hemp with an output moisture content between 10-12%.

About the Biosolids Industry

Millions of tons of gallons of nutrient rich organic waste are daily produced by wastewater treatment plants worldwide. This solid waste known as biosolids, once dewatered, is sent to landfills for disposal or land applied.

Not only are municipalities losing money transporting and disposing of the water remaining in the biosolids (approximately 75% on average), they are also disposing of a valuable resource. Biosolids, if processed and managed properly, can become a valuable soil amendment or fertilizer.

Vulcan® Drying Systems' Biosolids Drying System will reduce the primary disposal costs (transportation of "water") by removing the majority of the excess water and producing a renewable, recyclable, and reusable commodity.

Add More Value to Biosolids Material

Possibly the oldest source of renewable energy on Earth, biomass produces cleaner energy that creates lower operating costs for power plants. Drying biomass has numerous benefits, including lower transportation costs and a reduced risk of fire and decomposition. Dried biomass material is lighter, more stable, and can even be stored in the open as it naturally repels water.

Vulcan® Drying Systems Biomass Dryers are designed to increase the material’s energy value and produce a high-quality source of energy. Our drying systems produce a high-volume, low-moisture product that is easy to ship and store and add efficiency to your process, helping you to cut operating costs and produce a quality product for market.
