Thermal Desorption Unit (Asphalt Flux, 3.5 TPH)
Location: North Carolina, USA
Vulcan® Drying Systems personnel commissioned a plant in North Carolina to process asphalt flux in a Vulcan Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) and Vapor Recovery System. The TDU's effort is aimed to reduce landfilling and increase recycling of oil-based fluids. Control technology was designed around EPA standards in order to mitigate negative environmental impacts.
The system was designed to process 3.5 TPH of asphalt flux, an oil-based tar-like material, asphalt extenders, LUWA bottoms and vacuum tower bottoms. The system uses natural gas fired burners.
